Time Management: Crucial Forgotten Tool
Do You Feel Like 24 Hours Just Aren’t Enough?
At some point in life, we’ve all heard about time management. But most of us fail to realize how important it truly is. As the famous saying goes: “Time and tide wait for no man.” Once you mismanage time, it’s gone forever.
Having spent a month in college, juggling endless academic and extracurricular activities, I’ve realized how critical it is to make a daily schedule. Discipline doesn’t limit us — in fact, it sets us free.
A person who manages their time productively is far freer than someone who doesn’t. In school, most of our time management was done for us by parents and teachers — from waking up to going to bed, everything was supervised. But in college, time suddenly becomes our own, and that’s when we realize how essential time management really is.
Personally, I struggled in the beginning — irregular sleep, skipped meals, no time for sports. But once I learned to manage my time effectively, I started enjoying my days more and still got things done.
Yes, it may sound cliché, but here are a few tips that genuinely helped me:
1. Google Calendar: A Blessing
We’ve all seen those aesthetic Notion templates with checklists and themed UIs. But let’s be real — setting them up can feel overwhelming. I faced the same issue and switched to Google Calendar instead. It’s simple, quick, and effective.
Just add your classes and weekly programs, and you’re good to go. No more trying to remember what happens at 5 PM — just check your calendar in seconds. Pro tip: add the widget to your home screen and color-code your events for clarity.
2. The Priority Rule
Priorities decide where your energy should go. You don’t need to write and rank every task, but at least keep a mental note of what’s most important.
When exams are near, academics obviously take the top spot. On other days, give priority to learning other skills — coding, music, sports, or whatever you love. The key is to stay dynamic and adjust your priorities as life shifts.
3. Take a Break, Have a KitKat
Your body isn’t a Vibranium Ultron machine — it’s a bundle of cells that gets tired.
A packed schedule of waking up at 5, gym, classes, coding, and late-night study sessions might look great on paper, but it’s nearly impossible for most of us. Don’t set unrealistic expectations. Even with willpower, your body needs rest.
Study in short bursts: 30 minutes of focus, then a 5-minute break. This keeps your productivity close to 100% without burning out.
4. Exercise: The Hidden Mastermind
A healthy body fuels a healthy mind. Do at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily — it boosts metabolism, refreshes your energy, and yes, keeps the “josh high, bhai!”
5. Sleep: Know Yourself
The smartest people know how much sleep their body truly needs. Don’t abuse your sleep cycle — it’s non-negotiable for proper functioning.
Figure out your minimum sleep requirement, respect it, and stick to it. No excuses.
Final Thoughts
These are the tips I’ve been following (or at least trying to!) in college, and they’ve made a real difference.
So remember: Plan. Prioritize. Break. Exercise. Sleep. Repeat.
All the best, everyone — and may your 24 hours finally start feeling enough!
Byeeee~ 😁😀
