Ranting Out - Science Stream

We all hate written projects don't we ? Well, to write somethng is one thing, but to write something that we absolutely have no interest in, is infuriating. It's a time waste and regimented murder of creativity. Rather than giving students the freedom to ignite their curiosity, the education system of India choose to "formalise" the patterns and ways of teaching. I mean, even after 50 years of post independence(quoting HC Verma here) - we are still stuck at finding the value of g. Come on, I Don't Want To Find The Value of g. Someone has found it, it works, that's enough. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree with the idea of going through yhr history of how something involved. But staying in a cave, just to enjoy the comfort of living in apartments - that's just outright idioticity. Yes, the education system must change. NEP is a long way to go, and until then all we can do is raise out concerns and voices. 
Coming back to written projects, all of those after an year of so said " academic excellence" go to a garbage bin without any use to the society. At the same time, printing books on those one sided A4 sheets is a better investment. When paper used to be expensive, the quality of writing was excellence. Now when paper is cheap, we wrote the first thing that comes to our mind - no one cares about quality writing. 
Schools must change, written reports must be to enhance creativity especially in the field of science which is not burdened by any international regulations or rules unlike commerce. Science is the study of NATURE, you don't study science by sitting in a classroom and bleakly copying notes. You don't study physics by simply rote learning the derivations. No, you have to experience it. Work on it till you feel it. So much that your own mind, instinctively knows if something is wrong in a problem or in the answer. Similarly, maths is not the question to be solved, but the long back story that comes with it. Chemistry is not just " Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Berlium...Organesson"etc etc - it is also "what makes diamonds sparkle ?...how are gaming screen so good to view ?"...
My friends, some of you may have choosen science for a lucrative opportunity of enginnering and excelling in LIFE. But for those few, who have choosen this to dedicate their life to research, dedicate their life to pursue the questions of cosomos, I urge you all to not fall into the regimented thinking of contemporary schools. That does not imply not paying heed to your teachers - gurus are truly and simply must be repscted. But it implies that you must work harder, for it is difficult to break the social stigma and ways of the system.

  1. My thoughts on the "g" situation: I think its essential to to learn such derivations because i think science has advanced so far now that to find new equations is not as easy as it was. Yes it was not that easy to derive stuff like newton laws or anything , but the principles , mechanics and theory has advanced so far than it was around Newton's or even Einstein's times. So ig deriving values or equations is important to develop the core skill of creating new equations , which again demands deep conceptual understanding of the subject. So theory and application are elements of need here. But since its advanced i think its more efficient that we study those methods of derivations from the icons. At the same time it indeed is horrendous that we must by heart derivations for exams. I think exams are supposed to test the conceptual and application skills of the examinee and not his/her skill at deriving equations . The latter NEEDS more time and experience. I would rather develop a skill for listening to the music first before i assume i can new music.
